Your last chance to view Network, Sonia Boyce’s specially commissioned film which explores how forms of social communication such as mobile phones and social networking sites like Facebook have become the most popular ways for young people to maintain their relationships with friends and family.

Join us to celebrate the launch of Network.  This will be your chance to hear members of the VAPA Young Women’s Group talk about their experiences of working on the project, and meet artist Sonia Boyce who will officially launch her new work tonight.

 Last Friday Knitting Nights, 30 September 6-8:30pm 

Take part in the first of our two Knitting Nights, inspired by the VAPA Young Women’s Group’s favourite hobby knitting! Everyone from absolute beginners to experienced knitters are invited to this session led by I Knit London. We will provide needles and wool, or you can bring your own!  This event will also be part of the South London Art Map Last Fridays, a late night opening of the SLAM galleries on the last Friday of every month.  www.southlondonartmap.com, www.iknit.org.uk    

 Artist Talk, 11 October 7-8:30pm 

Artist Sonia Boyce will be in conversation about her work with playwright and critic Bonnie Greer.  This talk will address how the artist has explored modern concepts of communities and look at the use of oral history in her Peckham Space commission  Network. The discussion will also examine the role of film-making in the development of the artist’s practice. This discussion will be made into a podcast, available on our website following the event.

Last Friday Knitting Nights, 28 October 6-8:30pm 

Take part in the second of our two Knitting Nights. Come and take part in this group to try out your first stitches or share your knitting tips.
