 Past events

 Preview, 13 January, 6-8pm

Your first chance to experience Peckham Heroes for yourself, meet the artist and other people behind the scenes. There will be a performance from Harris Academy Peckham students at 7pm after which you can take the stage in our open mic karaoke session.

 Star Students, 26 January 2011, 5-7pm

Join us for this exciting performance, when Harris Academy Peckham students will sing live on stage. The stars for this evening will be students Kimoney Dawkins (year 9), Katrina Pettit (year 8) and Dolly Ukoh (year 9) who will perform songs that represent selected heroes from Peckham.

Draw Your Hero, 3 February 5-7pm

This evening we invite you to draw a cartoon of your own personal Peckham hero, a unique opportunity to learn drawing techniques and enter your work into hero of the week competition. You never know, your work could be included in the exhibition!

First Last Friday, 25 February 6-9pm

Join us for the launch of the Peckham Art Map and the first Last Friday at Peckham Space. This event will mark the start of a tradition for local arts organisations in Peckham to open to the public on the last Friday of every month and is in partnership with Southwark Arts Forum’s SE15 Networking Events. To find out about participating venues, drop by and pick up a Peckham Art Map from our venue.

 Artist Talk, 10 March 6-8pm

Artist Jessica Voorsanger will be in conversation with Dr Jean Wainwright, an art critic and art historian who is currently the presenter for The Art Newspaper (TV) and who holds a senior lecturer post at the University for the Creative Arts Rochester England. This talk will address the themes of art and celebrity and investigate it’s relevance to contemporary art practices today.

On the Hoof, 25 March 6-8pm

We are pleased to invite you to join us in celebrating the life and work of Mr Tilling, one of the heroes included in the exhibition, who invented the first ever Bus Stop here in Peckham. The first omnibus route ran between Peckham and Oxford Street, much like the Number 12 Bus does today. This evening you will be invited to contribute your travel memories to the Tilling Scroll, request a horoscope reading to see which of the ten chosen personalities were astrologically destined to become heroes and even discover if the same fate awaits you.  The event will also include interactive performances dedicated to ‘Kitty’, Thomas Tilling’s grey horse, his first and his pride and joy.
