Visual & Performing Arts (VAPA) Visual & Performing Arts (VAPA) is a Southwark Integrated Youth Support Service arts provision for young people aged 11-19. VAPA offers local young people access to training and facilities in a variety of visual and performing arts activities in both an evening and after-schools setting. VAPA runs three regular groups for young artists, weekly based in Bellenden Old School, SE15 4DG. VAPA also offers a comprehensive summer programme for young people - Summer Arts Academy. The regular weekly sessions are comprised of: Young Women’s Group: a unique evening session for young women delivered in partnership with Groundwork. The session offers a safe space for young women to come together, share ideas and learn new skills in a welcoming environment, supported by experienced groupwork practitioners and artist educators. The Young Women's Group worked alongside artist Sonia Boyce to create NETWORK at Peckham Space. FLIX: a group for young filmmakers aged 16-22 years. FLIX meets on Wednesday evenings 6pm-9pm @ VAPA. Young people who attend can explore all elements of the filmmaking process from original concept to filming, editing and post-production. FLIX is also a space for young people to talk through ideas and discuss film. Skool’s Out Art Club: a visual art and film/animation session for young people aged 11-16 years. The session takes place on Thursday evenings from 5pm-7pm and young people learn about working as artists, film, animation and design.
